COLD WAX AND MIXED MEDIA MONOTYPES | Santa Fe | JULY 28-31, 2020
This workshop highlights new materials and techniques to enhance prints and resolve monotype compositions. It is a great way to extend your voice and artistic vocabulary. We will review encaustic monotype basics and composition and work freely with an array of materials including watercolor, inks, Pan Pastel, drawing materials, and pigmented cold wax (sans oil from Evans Encaustics). We also cover mounting monotypes, framing and free-hanging paper ideas. This class can accommodate your specific interests as well. Bring your ideas, imagination, and if you like, materials specific to your particular interests.
FORMAT: Demonstrations are interspersed with ample studio work time. Includes guided discussions, group discussion and critiques. Class limited to 10. 10AM- 4PM daily.
SKILLS NEEDED: All levels welcome with basic experience with encaustic. In addition, watching Paula’s 2 ½ hour Instructional DVD will help you learn about monotypes and review skills (order here). Taking my Navigating the HOTbox Workshop first will of course give you more facility.
SUPPLIES: Most everything is provided, including a large selection of encaustic paint, paper, and miscellaneous tools and many mixed media supplies. You may bring your own materials to experiment as well. A list of small tools and incidentals will be sent. A Roland HOTbox ™ is provided for your use. Panels are not provided but available for purchase in studio.
